Dungeons and Dragons Character Playlist – Seraphine Reese
GM Notes: A few weeks ago I thought it would be interesting to see what music people thought fitted their characters in my DND games and so I present to you a hopefully weekly article featuring the playlist of each of the characters. This week, we have the most musically adept character so far, Seraphine Reese, the gnome bard questing the Jungles of Chult for the cure to the Death Curse.
Celtic Medieval Music-Kingdom of Bards: Adrian von Ziegler
Seraphine is a bard and she has a lute. Whether she’s performing amongst a crowd or just playing casually as she’s walking along in the woods, music is a love she found long ago and has not given up since.
Carry On: Cœur de pirate
Seraphine has fallen in love once in her life. It was with a human. He is still alive and well, but she decided to end the relationship with him because her feelings just faded naturally… or is it really as simple as that?
Mean: Taylor Swift
Seraphine never had the best relationship with her father. She is the middle child of five and he never seemed to show her much love and affection. Whether it was about disputes of her career choice or her love life, she could never impress him no matter how hard she tried to.
May It Be: Enya
Seraphine did, however, have a good relationship with her mother. One of the fondest memories Seraphine is when her mother sang a lullaby to her as a child before going to sleep, and to this day you can hear her humming it to herself or during her sleep.
Unwritten: Natasha Bedingfield
About 90% of the time, Seraphine is happy and cheerful and quite optimistic. She looks on the bright side of things, supports and inspires her friends and generally looks forward to the adventures she is going on.
How Far We've Come: Matchbox 20
Now the other 10% of the time in the back of Seraphine’s head, she is having an existential crisis because she’s not sure where she belongs in the world and she fears that the Death Curse will take over the world before she and her friends have time to stop it… but she never lets that fear show.
I'll Be There For You: The Rembrandts
In the little time that Seraphine has spent with the others in the group, she has gotten close to them and almost feels like they are her second family in a way. So she would do anything for any one of them and feels like there is a bond that will last a lifetime.
If I Die Young: The Band Perry
Seraphine has a fear of death. Or at least, dying too young to have experienced everything life has to offer. Despite being scared of dying, she knows exactly how she wants to be put to rest if she dies in the middle of her adventures with her team.
Back To You: Selena Gomez
Seraphine has a hard time admitting it, but she desperately wants to find Simon Featherglade again, the human she fell in love with, and explain why she did what she had to do all those years ago… and how much she loves him and wants him back.
